David Wilsden (also spelt Willsden and Willsdon) was born in Banbury, Oxfordshire, in 1847, ands attested for the the 72nd Highlanders at Hill Top on 13 August 1870. He served with the Seaforth Highlanders (as the 72nd were renamed) in India and Afghanistan from 21 February 1871 to 1 August 1882, and in Egypt from 2 August to 1 November 1882. He was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal on 1 April 1889, and was discharged on 15 August 1891, after 21 years and 3 days’ service.
